The CSL is one of only two schools in the nation that offers a graduate degree in sport leadership.

Programs

The Center for Sport Leadership at Virginia Commonwealth University offers a structured graduate program that combines classroom theory with exposure to relevant field experiences. Our programs' strengths include:

  • Faculty who are leaders in their specialized fields
  • Interdisciplinary courses
  • Annual two-week trip to Europe to study sports abroad
  • Opportunities to produce actual events in our capstone SEED (sport and entertainment event development) class
  • Graduate assistantships that provide real professional experience

Degrees

  • Master of Sport Leadership

    • On campus: A 12- to 16-month program, including a graduate assistantship, for full-time students 

    • On Campus: 12 month program that includes classes with Real Madrid Graduate School and a five week residency in Madrid, Spain. 

    • Distance learning: Classes taken online; designed for working students outside the Richmond area

  • Dual-degree M.S.L./M.B.A. program
    •  A partnership track between the School of Education and School of Business.
