The Class of 2022 won't be headed to Europe at the end of the semester but they will be headed out West.
A three city tour of Los Angeles, Las Vegas and Salt Lake City will replace the CSL's annual trip to Europe.
Due to ongoing challenges and logistical hurdles created by the COVID-19 pandemic, CSL decided a domsetic trip was better option.
"We didn't want another class of students to miss out the incredible experience a trip like this offers. We hope to return to Europe next year, but we are thrilled to head West and engaged with sports leaders and organizations in LA, Vegas and Salt Lake City," said executive director Carrie LeCrom.
Much like the European Model of Sport class, the U.S. Model of Sport will feature tours of sports venues, visits with professional sports organizations and interaction with sport leaders.
The trip will begin in Los Angeles and feature a Dodgers game, LAFC match, and tours of SoFi Stadium and the legendary L.A. Coliseum.
Two CSL alumni have been vital in helping us plan the L.A. portion of the trip. Virginia Pham '16 is an Los Angeles native and Director of Volleyball Operations for USC.
CSL alumni advisory board president Charlie Howe '07, currently based in Southern California, has organized an LA Sports Leaders Panel, which will discuss tghe city's plan to host the 2028 Summer Olympics.
Salt Lake City will also feature a heavy Olympic theme as the city prepares it's bid to host the 2030 Winter Olympics. CSL students will tour Olympic Park and Olympic Oval, both venues that hosted Winter Olympipc sports in 2002.
