Nathaniel Brownlee
Nathaniel Brownlee was born and raised in Plainfield, Illinois. He began his college
career at Alderson Broaddus University in Philippi, West Virginia. He was a volunteer
assistant for the women’s volleyball team while pursuing his own athletic career on the men’s volleyball team. He began as a biology major but upon the school’s closing, he transferred to the University of Mount Olive in Mount Olive, North Carolina where he switched his major to exercise science and continued to play volleyball. Nathaniel
ended up transferring and graduating from Lawrence Technological University in
Southfield, Michigan. Nathaniel graduated with a B.S. in clinical psychology and as an
accomplished student-athlete. During his time in Michigan, Nathaniel gained much
experience coaching at Legacy Volleyball Club, one of the most elite clubs in the
country.
He is now a graduate assistant for the VCU women’s volleyball team where he assists
in meal orders, scouting, technology management, is the liaison for away teams, assists with positional groups, and coaching. The volleyball program at VCU is one of the best in the country and Nathaniel is learning much about the behind the scenes of coaching and how to manage a college program. This GA and his experiences working on camps at other high-level programs and clubs are helping to propel him to be the best leader, coach, and person that he can be. Nathaniel is looking forward to continuing to grow at VCU and to begin his collegiate coaching career as a master’s graduate.
