Marissa Hansbrough
Marissa Hansbrough is from Harrisonburg, Virginia. She attended James Madison University, where she earned a B.S. in Sport and Recreation Management with minors in General Business and Communication. During her time at JMU, Marissa gained extensive experience in collegiate athletics through roles in game operations, event management, and athletic facilities. She also worked for The Union at JMU, progressing from Event Services Assistant to Event Operations Manager and ultimately Operations and Scheduling Manager, where she coordinated event staffing and supported operations for major campus venues.
Marissa served as a Program Ambassador for JMU’s Hart School and as Chapter President of Phi Mu. She was also selected as the Most Outstanding Senior in JMU’s Sport and Recreation Management program. Marissa was selected to represent the Hart School and JMU while volunteering at several major sporting events, including the 2026 NCAA Men’s Final Four in Indianapolis, the 2025 Dominion Energy Charity Classic, and the 2024 TransPerfect Music City Bowl.
She currently serves as a VCU Athletics Sport Operations Graduate Assistant, supporting game-day management, overseeing a student staff, and assisting with event logistics. Marissa hopes to pursue a career in collegiate or professional athletics focused on sport operations and game-day management.
